Friday Favorites: Travel Edition

When I decided to take a sabbatical from work after moving to Minnesota, I sat down and journaled about the things I wanted to experience during my time off. One of the things I decided on was to travel. My plans took on many iterations: a 3 month road trip with my dog, a bunch of short day trips or weekend trips, or 1 REALLY LONG trip by myself.  What I ended up doing was a 3 week trip to California and Maui with my family, and a 10 day Art & Faith Retreat in Italy. During those trips I found a few items that worked REALLY well for me. Here are the items that made it onto my Friday Favorites: Travel Edition list.

1.) Away Luggage I’ve been hearing about Away luggage non-stop for almost a year. I have to admit I was a little skeptical because of how many suitcase options are on the market. I wasn’t sure if they would measure up, but boy did they ever! Away Luggage is known for their pieces being light weight with a durable hard shell exterior. The carry-on pieces have a battery charger stored in the shell of the suitcase to charge phones, iPads, etc. You can also remove the battery charger to carry with you as you travel. I purchased the medium carry on and the medium sized checked bag. They are the best things I purchased this year! The battery charger for my electronics lasted 5 days before I had to recharge it. Both suitcases were incredibly durable and the wheels on the bags survived the cobblestone streets of Venice and Bellagio, Italy. And best of all, they weren’t too heavy or bulky to drag around with me. Definitely a must for those wanting to travel internationally.

2.) Rae Slip-On Vionic Sneakers I wanted to wear comfortable shoes while I was in Italy (alas, I’m old enough now where I NEED comfortable shoes), but I didn’t want to look like an American wearing my sneakers. That’s where this pair of slip on Vionic shoes walk in. I purchased this pair in navy and am sooo glad I did. No blisters, no sore feet, no back pain, just cute shoes I could wear all day. Praise the Lord!

3.) Beauty Counter’s Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 I am a fair skinned freckly girl that burns easily. Always have been, always will be. Sunscreen is a necessity in my life. With that in mind I’m also trying to use more natural skincare products. That’s why I love this Beauty Counter Sunscreen. I get the sun protection without all the harsh chemicals found in most sunscreens. The best part about this product is that unlike other mineral sunscreens, it doesn’t leave a cakey white film on your face. It blends easily into your skin. Totally worth the $39.00 in my opinion.

4.) Thayer’s Rose Witch Hazel Toning Wipes I love Thayer’s Rose Witch Hazel Toner. It works wonders on my sensitive skin. I was ecstatic to find that they now make toning wipes and sell them at Target. These were perfect to carry on the plane with me and refresh my face when I got to my destination.

5.) Woolite Travel sized Laundry packets: These are an oldie but a goodie. Woolite is a gentle laundry detergent and works wonders on your clothes. The convenient travel sized packets were perfect for doing laundry while traveling. Thankfully I found a laundry mat in Bellagio so no washing clothes in the sink.

That’s it for this edition of Friday Favorites. I did want to mention that I am not being sponsored or receiving payment from any of these companies for this post. This is purely from what’s made my travel life easier this year.

HAPPY  TRAVELS EVERYONE!
